Competition Report
29 members of the Scottish Team joined over 260 youth climbers from across the UK for the 2019 Youth Climbing Series Grand Finals
This year introduced a new format to the Youth Climbing Series Finals which historically had been hosted at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena and all took place on the one day with both bouldering and roped climbing disciplines.
The format for this year finals was bouldering on the Saturday and roped climbing on the Sunday.
Day 1 - Bouldering @The Depot Climbing Centre - Sheffield
Competitor's descended upon the brand new Depot Climbing Centre in Sheffield. The morning seen youth categories D & E start with a scramble format for qualifying. Early afternoon then seen the other categories, Youth A, B & C start their qualifiers using the same scramble format.

Some fantastic and testing problems for all the categories which did their job in splitting the competitors and deciding who would make it into the finals.
It was a fantastic performance from all Scottish Competitors through the qualifying rounds which in the end seen the following make it through to the finals for their categories.

- Male Youth C - Lachlan Ross
- Female Youth B - Niamh Doran
- Male Youth B - Louis Langlands
- Female Youth A - Zara Whiteside
- Male Youth A - Matthew Fall
Boulder Finals
The Finals for all categories took place on the main comp wall at the venue, providing quite an amazing atmosphere for spectators and competitors.

The Scottish bouldering finalist put on an amazing show against the other competitors from across the UK. Results after the finals were as follows:
- Male Youth E - Isaac Bell - 4th
- Female Youth C - Kasha Ogilvie - 1st
- Male Youth C - Lachlan Ross - 6th
- Female Youth B - Niamh Doran - 1st
- Male Youth B - Louis Langlands - 4th
- Female Youth A - Zara Whiteside - 5th
- Male Youth A - Matthew Fall - 2nd
This meant that the Scottish Team was sitting an impressive 4th out of the 9 regions after day one.
Day 2 - Roped @Awesome Walls - Sheffield
Climbers arrived at Awesome Wall Sheffield sight tired after day one but still fully of enthusiasm for the routes ahead. Qualifiers seen yet more epic climbing by the Scottish Team with 11 making into the finals. These were:

- Male Youth D - Alfie Cordiner
- Female Youth D - Anna Fraser
- Female Youth C - Kasha Ogilvie
- Female Youth C - Ava Hamilton
- Male Youth C - Lachlan Ross
- Female Youth B - Niamh Doran
- Female Youth A - Zara Whiteside
- Femalw Youth A - Aimee McRae
- Male Youth A - Matthew Fall
- Male Youth A - Max Arthur

The Scottish Team 4th overall which is a fantastic result that all should be very proud of.
