Selection Weekend Report

On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March ClimbScotland ran the Youth Climbing Series YCS Team Selection weekend at two different climbing venues based in Glasgow. This saw climbers who had qualified for the Scottish Squad through the north and south regional rounds, battle it out for their spot on the Scottish Team who will go forward to the Youth Climbing Series Grand Final in Sheffield at the end of April.

On Saturday 66 youth competitors descended on The Climbing Academy, Newsroom which is one of the biggest bouldering facilities in Scotland, for the first day of competition. Each age category had to attempt 10 boulder problems ranging in difficulty in a scramble format. Five attempts were allowed per problem and a 3 hour window was provided to attempt all 10 problems.

Sunday seen youth competitors head along the road to The Glasgow Climbing Centre for the roped climbing stage of the competition. Here competitors had 2 routes per age category to attempt in the morning, which then moved into an exciting action packed final in afternoon. Log files
