Get involved in the fastest form of climbing and new Olympic climbing discipline
The Speed Development Squad is based at
Edinburgh International Climbing Arena which has the only
IFSC standard Speed Climbing Wall in the UK. Why not come along and see what time you can set on the 15-metre high speed wall and try to improve that time through the coaching and support offered through the squad.
How to get involved
Sessions are on a Sunday between 12 & 3pm and run most weeks, but with other climbing events we would urge anyone planning a visit to check out the Speed Development Squad
Facebook group for up-to-date information on sessions.

What do I need?
Climbing shoes and harness are the two main bits of equipment you need to take part. If you don't have your own, you can hire these through the climbing centre at reception.
Chalk is handy too.
How much does it cost?
Taking part in the Speed Development Squad is free although you will need to pay the wall entry fee and sign in at reception either as a competent climber or under the supervision of one.
Pricing for EICA can be found
here.
Here is what Scott Forsyth who is one of the Speed Development Squad volunteers had to say: "It’s all very relaxed, and we regularly have people giving it a go, both kids and adults. We will never turn anyone away and, even if we have to give a push start, everyone will be given every possible chance to record a time. For those with an interest in developing speed climbing skills we will do everything possible to offer help and support to improve times."
