The ClimbScotland Fun Climbing Competition (CSFCC) is Scotland’s entry-level, top rope competition for young climbers.
The self-scoring format and online registration of scores make it easy to have a go and is a great competition for those competing for the first time.
The 2026 Fun Climbing Competition has wrapped up! Keep an eye out for news of the Fun Boulder Competition in summer 2026.
- Results from the 2026 qualifying round are HERE, with team results HERE.
- Results from the final on 28 March at EICA:Ratho are HERE.
What is the Fun Competition?
The CSFCC focus is on young climbers who are just starting out in competitions. It offers a great way to have a go at competition climbing, perhaps for the first time ever, and compete against your friends whether they are from your school, in your youth group or your climbing club or squad.
NOTE: Those selected to the Scotland Development Squad and Scotland National Squad are not eligible to compete in the CSFCC to ensure a fairer entry-level competition.
Climbers compete individually in the age categories used in all our youth competitions (see below). But there will also be trophies for different ‘Teams’ and each climber can select which, if any, team they wish to have their scores counted for.
If you want to compete on behalf of your school, your climbing club or climbing wall squad, ask your group leader to get a team together. You can only compete for one team! Or you can simply compete under your own name. See the Regulations below for details of the ‘Teams’.
Please refer to the competition scorecard or the table below for a reminder of the age categories which we transitioned to in 2025, inline with IFSC and GB competitions.
Qualifying Round
The qualifying round for all categories will be held between Friday 23rd January 2026 and Saturday 7th March 2026. The exact availability of the competition routes may vary from wall to wall according to their setting schedules – please check with your local wall about when their routes will be up.
To enter, simply visit your local hosting wall (see the list below) and get your climbing parent, teacher, group leader or the climbing wall instructor to support you as a belayer / allocated scoring judge. You have six weeks to do the routes at your leisure (BUT BE AWARE: don’t try them before you want to gain a valid score!).
You can try all the routes in one visit or complete the climbs over a couple of sessions. You are allowed three attempts at each climb. Once you have completed all four routes, your self-score can be registered online by you or your allocated judge (parent, teacher, youth group leader, instructor or coach).
The top scorers will be invited to compete at a Grand Final on 28th March 2026 at EICA:Ratho.
All online scores must be submitted by midnight on Monday 9th March 2026.

The online scorecard is available for desktop browsers only and not editable on mobile.
