RULES ADDENDUM:

RULE 7.14 A) CHANGE: Observation – due to resource limitations we are no longer able to offer video demonstrations on-line and there is not enough time in the schedule to offer live demos.

The Scottish Youth Climbing Championships are ClimbScotland’s National Level event for 9 to 19 year olds to test their skills in both top rope/lead climbing (SYCC) and speed climbing (SYSC) at UK and Ireland standard.

The competition is an ‘open’ event and the SYCC is a round of the 4 Nation Nations Series in partnership with BMC and Mountaineering Ireland. This is a great way to experience high standard competition and meet young climbers from across the UK and Ireland.

As a national competition, the SYCC climbs are of a higher standard than found in the ClimbScotland Youth Climbing Series (YCS) or the ClimbScotland FUN Roped & Boulder Comps. It is aimed at young climbers who wish to compete at this higher level and those who are trying for selection to the Scottish Development and National Squads.

As this is the Scottish Championship, ClimbScotland will recognise as Scottish Champions those competitors’ resident in Scotland in each category who rank 1st amongst the Scottish competitors, regardless of their overall rank. The winners in each category of the competition on the day will be recognised as the winners of the Scottish Round of the All Nations Series.

As the final round in the All Nations Series we will also be announcing the winners of the overall series winners for each category at this competition.

PLEASE NOTE – the English and Welsh rounds for 2024 have been cancelled. The Scottish and Irish events will proceed as planned, and participation in BOTH will result in an overall series ranking for the All Nations Series. For more information please visit GB Climbing and Mountaineering Ireland.

The SYCC prizes are supported by CragSwag.
