Round 1 of the 2016 SSCC finished on 31st October after nearly 6 weeks. The scores have been counted and the results are in.

There were 10 host climbing walls this year with the best spread across Scotland since the competition began.Alongside the regular main walls in Dundee, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow we had Gairloch in the North West, Pickaquoy on Orkney, Three Wise Monkeys in Fort William and Spireroxx in Elgin. Glasgow attracted the largest number of competitors (72) but Elgin, Aberdeen and Orkney were all very close seconds and did a great job of inspiring their local schools to get involved.

Competitors could opt for either top-rope or lead categories and a total of 246 children from Primary year 4 to Secondary year 6 took part and submitted their scores on-line on the ClimbScotland website. Between them they accounted for over 100 schools, which is a record number so far for the SSCC. Although many schools had only one competitor it is certainly a great start to encourage more climbing through schools across Scotland.

The Primary School Winners:

There is no final for the primary school competitors and the results from Round 1 determine the winners. There were several score-draws and so we have nine winners this year. We would like to congratulate the following climbers in the Primary School category who will be receiving their SSCC trophies by post:
