Located in the small village of Menstrie, this crag is good for small groups and introducing people to outdoor climbing. The rock provides steep slab climbing and you can test your corner climbing on the V-Diff route called Grassy Corner. The grades range from M to VS 5b.

Access

  • There is space for two cars across the bridge from Menstrie Scout Centre. If these are full then on street parking is available outside the scout centre, but please respect local residents when parking and approaching the crag.
  • After the Scout Centre there is a small bridge. Cross this and you will see the Menstrie Wood noticeboard. Continue and you will see a sign for a path on your right.
  • Follow steps steeply up through the woods for a few hundred metres and the crag will appear on your left. It’s overgrown in summer and the path is almost non-existent, but it flattens out at the base of the crag.

What to be aware of:

  • Slippery grass at top
  • Access to the top is easiest from the right when facing the crag
  • Some unprotected routes
  • Not suitable for larger groups
  • Anchors quite hard to find at top
