Advanced Belaying Workshops
Belaying is the most important job we do in climbing, so it’s good to know more than the basics. With these workshops we aim to give you the advanced skills and knowledge to keep your climber off the deck!
The Advanced Belaying workshop is run my experienced instructors at a 1:6 ratio, and will cover:
What is considered “Best Practice” lead belaying skills
How to give the mythical “Soft-Catch”
A chance to explore and experience new belay devices and learn how each works
These courses are open to all climbers of any age and experience level. Our experienced instructor will run these at a 1:6 ratio, and can tailor the content to the needs of everyone attending.

Our Inclusive Climbing Workshops aim to support those with additional support needs access climbing activities by upskilling instructors, coaches, parents and carers with the knowledge, experience and skills to support and enable participation.
ClimbScotland organises coaching sessions for young climbers, delivered by expert climbing coaches.
Club coaching: Our Regional Development Officers can deliver tailor-made coaching sessions to Mountaineering Scotland affiliated clubs. This is a chance to get expert advice and coaching for your club members. Sessions can cater for novices through to those who have been climbing a while but wish to get better!
