It was a great turnout at
Glasgow Climbing Centre for the 2016 Scottish Schools Competition final, with many climbers who would be taking part in the finals for the first time.
Climbing got under way after a warm up run by head route setter and
Regional Development Officer Robert Mackenzie.
The climbers moved onto their first route of the day. The climbers would get to attempt two routes, trying to score as many points as possible, to qualify for the final route.
Moving onto the second route, the route setters had an even more challenging set of routes ready for the climbers to try.
The Final Route
After a short time out for lunch, with many eating in the lovely
Balcony Cafe upstairs in the
Glasgow Climbing Centre, it was time for the Final Route.
All the climbers headed downstairs into the bouldering room for isolation, to ensure that every climber would have the same chance on the final route with each climber getting an "onsight" attempt. The climbers were then called up to try their route with no knowledge on how the person before them had faired, trying their hardest to get as high as they could, trying to become the Scottish Schools Champion! The standard of climbing was excellent from all across Scotland!
